Policy

Editorial policy

The standards Zandrel holds itself to when researching, writing, reviewing and correcting health information.

1. Purpose

Zandrel is an independent editorial publication based in Jakarta Selatan. Its purpose is to provide general, well-sourced health information for men aged 30 and above in Indonesia. This policy describes the principles that guide our content and how we can be held to them.

2. Editorial independence

Editorial decisions are made by the editorial team alone. No advertiser, sponsor, clinic, manufacturer or public body is able to commission, approve, alter or remove an article. At the date of this policy, Zandrel carries no sponsored content and no product advertising. If that changes, the advertising disclosure will be updated before any such material appears.

3. Sourcing

  • Articles rely first on official guidance from the Indonesian Ministry of Health and the World Health Organization.
  • Clinical detail is drawn from professional society guidelines, systematic reviews and large trials.
  • Smaller studies are labelled as early or limited evidence.
  • Commercial material, testimonials and social media posts are not used as evidence.
  • Sources are listed at the end of each article.

4. Medical review

Every article is reviewed before publication by a qualified professional in the relevant field. Reviewers check factual accuracy, identify statements that go beyond the evidence and advise on warning signs. Their names and the date of review are shown on the article. Reviewers do not provide clinical care to readers through Zandrel.

5. Language standards

We write to inform, not to persuade readers to buy or do something. In practice this means:

  • We do not promise outcomes or describe any food, habit, product or treatment as certain to work.
  • We do not use urgency, countdowns or pressure to decide.
  • We state limits, uncertainty and risks alongside benefits.
  • We do not shame readers for weight, habits or health status.

6. Use of automated tools

Articles are written and edited by people. Automated tools may be used for spell-checking, translation checks and formatting, but not to produce health statements. Every factual claim is checked by a human editor against its source.

7. Conflicts of interest

Staff and reviewers are asked to declare any financial relationship with a company, clinic or product relevant to a topic. Where a conflict exists, the person does not write or review that article. Declarations are kept on file and reviewed annually.

8. Dates, updates and corrections

Each article shows its publication date and the date of its latest review. Articles are reviewed at least annually, and sooner when guidance changes. When we find a factual error:

  1. We correct the text promptly.
  2. We add a note at the end of the article saying what changed and when.
  3. For significant errors, we state this at the top of the article.

9. Reader feedback and complaints

Readers can report an error, raise a concern about wording or ask about a source by using the contact form or by writing to [email protected]. Factual queries receive a response within five working days. If you are not satisfied, you may ask for the matter to be reviewed by the Editor-in-Chief.
